ExxonMobil U-18 Football: Schools across eight regions gear up for crucial third-round clashes

Oct 15, 2026 | 3 min read

The inaugural ExxonMobil Guyana Under-18 Schools Football Tournament is set for a blockbuster third round this weekend, featuring an extensive 36-match programme across several regions on Friday, October 16, and Saturday, October 17.

Organised by the Vurlon Mills Football Academy, the nationwide competition continues to build momentum as schools battle for regional honours and crucial progression in the tournament’s later stages.

Launched on October 1, the competition has brought together 118 school teams—comprising 68 boys’ sides and 50 girls’ squads from eight of Guyana’s ten administrative regions.

Sponsored by ExxonMobil Guyana and supported by the Guyana Football Federation, the Ministry of Education’s Allied Arts Unit, and the National Sports Commission, the tournament provides one of the country’s largest platforms for youth football development and talent identification, creating a clear pathway from school football into academy, club, and senior-level competition.

Friday’s action kicks off with a packed regional schedule.

In Georgetown, attention turns to the Queen’s College Ground as Chase’s Academic Foundation lock horns with Richard Ishmael Secondary in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions at 3:30 pm.

Over at Tucville, Central High School meets Dolphin Secondary in the girls’ competition at 3:30 pm, followed immediately by Lodge Secondary squaring off against Charlestown Secondary at 4:00 pm.

On the East Coast of Demerara, Victoria Ground hosts Annandale Secondary versus Ann’s Grove Secondary at 2:00 pm and Bladen Hall Secondary against Golden Grove Secondary at 3:30 pm.

Fixtures are also locked in for Region Five at the All Saints Ground, Linden at Wisburg, multiple encounters in Region One at Santa Rosa and Hosororo, and the East Bank of Demerara, where Camille’s Diamond takes on Friendship Secondary at Providence.

The action intensifies on Saturday with another bumper slate of fixtures.

At the Queen’s College Ground, Campbellville Secondary faces Cummings Lodge Secondary in the boys’ competition at 10:00 am before North Georgetown Secondary battles Christ Church Secondary at noon, leading into high-profile clashes between Queen’s College and St. George’s School of Science, alongside Marian Academy taking on Queen’s College in the girls’ division at 2:00 pm.

Tucville stages a triple-header: East Ruimveldt Secondary vs Charlestown Secondary at 10:00 am, Dolphin Secondary vs West Ruimveldt Secondary at noon, and New Central High vs the winner of Game 11 at 2:00 pm.

Regional showdowns continue across Berbice at the All Saints Ground with a five-match lineup, Friendship Park on the West Coast of Demerara, Victoria on the East Coast, the No. 5 Ground in Region Five, and Mabaruma Township in Region One.

As the inaugural tournament continues through November, participating schools will look to secure their places in the subsequent stages of the competition. (Modified Press Release)
