14 new wells to boost water supply

Nov 2, 2026 | 1 min read
Minister of Housing Collin Croal inspects ongoing development works

Fourteen new wells are set to improve access to a reliable water supply in several areas, with two of the wells earmarked for the new Providence/Glasgow and Overwinning housing development, East Bank Berbice and Palmyra, Region Six.

The Central Housing and Planning Authority (CHPA) is advancing the initiative, with tenders to construct the wells scheduled to close soon, paving the way for the evaluation of bids and the selection of contractors.

During a recent site visit to the housing developments, Minister of Housing Collin Croal explained that the wells will complement existing water distribution infrastructure, ensuring residents in new communities can access a dependable water supply as they move into their homes.

Minister Croal noted that the internal water distribution system is already in place at Overwinning, allowing the well infrastructure to be connected once completed.
